Recording, production, and song development each refer to a different part of the process. You may need all three, or you may only need one. I’d rather help you figure out what actually makes sense for your project than sell you work you don’t need. That would be wasting both of our time.
See what each service actually means ↗I’m open-minded and I like to experiment, but I also pay attention to the scope of the project and the creative vision behind it. My job is to help capture the performance in a way that serves the song, not force every session into the same process.
I spend time with the song beyond the scheduled session. You get space to experiment, explore ideas, and figure out what makes the song work before locking in production decisions. From there, I can help shape the sound, arrangement, performances, and overall direction around your creative vision.
We’ll play around with adding, subtracting, and changing parts until the song is doing what it needs to do. I’ll bring ideas to the table without forcing every song toward the same answer, with the audience and purpose of the song guiding the decisions we make.
The role changes from project to project. Sometimes I’m writing, recording, performing, or producing. Other times I’m helping get the music in front of people. Here are a few examples.
I’m Bryson “Bexey” Heatherly. I’m a musician first, and that shapes pretty much everything about how I approach recording and production. I write, perform, arrange, engineer, and spend a lot of time figuring out why a song works, or why it doesn’t yet.
I built Bexey Records because I wanted the process to feel collaborative, affordable, and creatively open. I’m not interested in forcing every artist through the same formula. I want to understand what you’re trying to make, bring ideas when they’re useful, and help you get closer to the version of the song you actually hear in your head.
I don’t need to leave my fingerprints all over a song. I’d rather figure out what makes it work and bring more of that out.
If a song needs more than one set of hands, I can bring in musicians I trust to serve the music. That might mean drums, guitars, keys, background vocals, or another part the project calls for.
They’re people I trust to listen well, play with feel, and understand when a song needs more or less. If bringing in the right player helps the record, I can pull them into the project.
